We recommend visiting the gynecologist for a screening annually, but also any time you have a concern relating to pelvic, vulvar and vaginal pain or if experiencing abnormal bleeding from the uterus. Some common signs you should not wait for your annual exam to see a gynecologist include, but are not limited to:
- Issues related to pregnancy
- Urinary and fecal incontinence
- Burning sensation when urinating
- Severe menstrual cramps or pelvic pain
- Extra heavy period
- Period lasts more than a week
- Change in regularity of your period
- If you think you may be pregnant
- You believe you've been exposed to an STD
- You've had non-consensual sex
