Bristol Health's Response to the Coronavirus

Bristol Health has always been committed to your overall health and wellness. That remains the case during the current coronavirus outbreak. Our providers are ready to provide you the care you need to stay happy and healthy. In response to COVID-19, we have implemented Telehealth virtual visits, ensuring that you can still receive your routine maintenance care and have your questions and concerns answered by your physician. 

We have also put many measures in place to help keep our community safe during these trying times. 


Offering Virtual Visits

The steps we are all taking to help stop the spread of COVID-19, flatten the curve and keep ourselves, our neighbors and our communities as a whole safe have left many of us living life from inside our homes. As a means to continue to provide you with the care to keep you healthy, Bristol Health is making your provider available to you through a virtual visit. A Telehealth visit can be done in the comfort of your home and allow you to connect with your individual provider concerning your health care needs.

Specimen Collection Stations

Effective Saturday, June 20, Bristol Health will be converting its COVID-19 specimen collection to a model that concentrates on Bristol Health patients. This decision is based on the rapidly decreasing number of COVID positive patients coupled with the reduced number of collections from Bristol Health’s Specimen Collection Station.  June 20 will be the last day of Bristol Health’s Specimen Collection Station.

For members of the general public seeking a COVID test, they can find a testing site by visiting the Connecticut Department of Public Health website or by calling the United Way’s 2-1-1 phone line.

Our collection station, which was one of the first to open in the state, collected over 4,100 specimens while in operation. 

 

Coordination with Public Health Departments


We maintain close communication with other health organizations. This includes:

  • Local and state Public Health Departments
  • Participating in all CT Department of Public Health, CDC and other subject matter expertise webinars, conference calls and literature review
  • Coordinating preparedness activities and common goals with the Bristol Burlington Health District, Bristol Police, Bristol Fire, Bristol Public Schools, Bristol Emergency Management and the Mayor's Office
  • Reviewing our inventory of emergency management supplies, personal protective equipment and powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR)
  • Developing a standardized screening process for patients at Bristol Health
  • Testing our system by conducting drills with clinical providers and leaders, including isolation strategies and clinical management of patients.

Limiting Community Events

Community and educational events being hosted by Bristol Health that are limited to 10 attendees or less are currently proceeding as planned. However, each is being evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For questions regarding an event, please inquire through the contact us form or call the phone number listed in that specific event's details.

We advise anyone who is considering registering for an upcoming event to please self-evaluate and determine if you are clear to attend. You should not register or plan on attending an event if:

  • You've had contact with someone who has or is under investigation for COVID-19.
  • You are experiencing respiratory or flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, body aches or headaches.
  • You have recently traveled to an area with an ongoing spread of COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.
