Excellence Every Day

Recognized for High-Quality Care

Bristol Health is nationally recognized for our high quality, safety and patient experience.

Rewarded for Excellence in Care.
Again and Again.

At Bristol Health, our pursuit of quality is a central tenet of who we are and we are proud to be recognized for our many quality achievements, from our Magnet nursing designation to being the #1 full-service hospital in Connecticut in preventing hospital-acquired infections.

As a small,  independent community health system, we have a commitment to excellence that exceeds our smaller footprint. Because, as we believe, "Bigger isn't better, better is better."

Straight A's for Patient Safety Since 2017

Bristol Hospital is proud to once again earn an “A” for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, a national group that rates hospitals on how well they keep their patients safe from errors, injuries, accidents and infections.

Providing our patients with the safest, highest-quality care is our number one priority – and it shows. We are the only hospital in Connecticut to receive five consecutive A’s since 2017, making us a “Straight A” hospital.

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

Preventing HAIs

#1 in Connecticut in Preventing Hospital-Acquired Infections.

At Bristol Health, we have made infection control a priority. Every year, some 2 million people, including nearly 250,000 hospital patients, become infected with bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, which are an important and common treatment for many diseases. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) estimates that 23,000 people die from these infections.
