BRISTOL - Bristol Hospital will once again offer free foot and ankle checks at the 5th Annual Connecticut Prime Time Senior Fair today at Bristol Eastern High School.

From 10 to 11 a.m., Dr. Peter Bellezza will be at the fair for anyone who may be experiencing chronic foot or ankle pain, according to Christopher Boyle, hospital spokesman. The entire fair runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bellezza was a “tremendous hit” at the Bristol Home and Business Show,” Boyle said.

“About 40 attendees came to see him,” Boyle continued.

A number of people who were lined up to see Bellezza in January did not get a chance to. Boyle encourages anyone interested in a free foot and ankle check to arrive at the fair early.

“Dr. Bellezza really thrives on getting out and meeting residents,” Boyle said. “He’s an expert in ankle and foot care.”

As for what else the hospital will have Saturday, the spokesman said, “We’re going to have pretty good representation.”

Kristopher Jones, director of the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, will also be at the fair on Saturday to answer questions about hyperbaric medicine and the benefits.

There will also be representation from the Home Care and Hospice Agency, the Ingraham Manor Skilled Nursing Facility and the Senior Behavioral Health Unit.

Bristol Hospital will give free tests for blood pressure and pulse oximetry - which measures how much oxygen is in the blood.

The hospital will also have a number of giveaways for those who attend.

“It’ll be a great event,” Boyle said.

“The staff is always looking forward to getting out there, meeting current and possible new patients,” he said.
