Our Childbirth Education classes offered through the Families are First Birthing Center at Bristol Hospital are designed to help parents access accurate, timely information about childbirth and provide you options to make an informed decision about the care for you and your newborn.

Childbirth Education Classes

The childbirth education classes offered at Bristol Hospital provides new and experienced parents access to accurate, timely information about childbirth empowering all expectant people and their partners to make informed decisions about the labor and delivery process. Our comprehensive and collaborative care team is dedicated to providing the highest-quality pre and post natal care to help you build confidence in your body’s ability to give birth, including aftercare. For a fruitful experience, we advise that all classes are best taken when the expectant parents are in the third trimester. Please read more about the different class options we offer below and sign up today. 

Q + A Session and Birthing Center Tour

In addition, held virtually once a month, we offer all expectant parents a one (1) hour informational session that answers all your questions including where to locate parking on our campus, when to come to the hospital, car seat safety for your newborn, making an informed decision in choosing a pediatrician and lactation services. 

Birth Basics

This three (3) hour course covers the labor and delivery process including a brief discussion of c-sections and inductions, as well as the immediate postpartum period. 

Newborn Basics

This two (2) hour course teaches expectant parents how to care for their new baby, including feeding, diaper changes, swaddling, infant safety and much more. 

Breastfeeding Basics

This two (2) hour course will teach expectant parents how to provide human milk for their infant, discussing options for feeding such as direct nursing and pumping.

Comprehensive Birth Experience Class

Split into two days, this course will cover the entire birth process, including postpartum care for mom and infant, newborn care, and breastfeeding. Each course is two and a half (2.5) hours long.
