COVID-19 Testing

Effective Saturday, June 20, Bristol Health will be converting its COVID-19 specimen collection to a model that concentrates on Bristol Health patients. This decision is based on the rapidly decreasing number of COVID positive patients coupled with the reduced number of collections from Bristol Health’s Specimen Collection Station.  June 20 will be the last day of Bristol Health’s Specimen Collection Station.

For members of the general public seeking a COVID test, they can find a testing site by visiting the Connecticut Department of Public Health website or by calling the United Way’s 2-1-1 phone line.

Because the coronavirus is so new, testing for the virus is rapidly evolving as doctors and researchers learn more about the disease. In general, COVID-19 tests available at various hospitals and outpatient facilities and retail locations include:

Currently, our turnaround time for results is:
PCR (swab) Test: 24-48 hours
Antibody Test: 3-5 days

Our collection station, which was one of the first to open in the state, collected over 4,100 specimens while in operation.
